In “Craps Talk” Coach Fav explains how one can make large profits from the come out rolls regardless of which line they open the came from, Pass Line or Don’t Pass Line. He also explains how place bettors can protect themselves from the 7 by locking up a profit. There can be big money in come out rolls. Consider playing the front end of a craps game hoping to catch a series of 7-11’s and 2-3-12’s.

Taking a family to Las Vegas is a serious decision that should be considered carefully. A summer vacation in Southern Nevada rules out swimming an entire day because temperatures are likely to be in the low 100’s. Swimming safely means using adequate sun block and not staying in the sun for hours. Hydration is always important in a desert environment. 

After swimming, what would “kids” do in Las Vegas? Coach Fav gives a lengthy list of activities to be considered. Janie reacts and elaborates on his choices – a variety of things that preteens and teens might enjoy in Las Vegas. Note: Kids can walk through casinos in Nevada, but they cannot sit at a slot machine. The Strat has thrill rides that attract fans from all around the world. Coach Fav explains his plan for spending a family day at the Strat. Janie and Coach also list the Vegas shows that welcome kids and that entire the family would enjoy. Many casinos also offer babysitting and daycare with certified staff.

Both Janie and Coach Fav stress that the supervision of children and teens is paramount.

Traveling with other adult family members (grandparents, etc.) can be a big help in sharing supervisory responsibilities. Often general sightseeing in Las Vegas is also enjoyable for all ages. Still if you go, supervision of children is more important than anything else.  This is also true while walking on the Strip.

Gambling Warning: Betting Too Much Cash: Coach Fav returns to his old topic about the dangers of playing with “scared money,” which is money that one cannot afford to lose. Learn to enjoy the smaller wins and have the discipline to quit when you are ahead by reaching your win limit. Lock up your winning; otherwise, you might give it all back.

In Craps Talk Coach discusses the Don’t Come bet. A bet he refers to as the “DC.” He explains how it works and also acknowledges that he almost never makes DC bets. He present his reasons. Note the distinctions between lay bets and DC bets.  DC bets are a better deal for the player than a lay bet, but what point number they go to from the DC is not controlled by the shooter, rather by the dice roll. One can lay odds on the DC bet when it reaches a number- same odds as the Don’t Pass Line.

How can one bet the Notre Dame-Ohio State game by betting on both teams and win both bets? Coach Fav will tell you exactly how to do it. It comes down to making two distinct type of wagers. Coach Fav explains in detail the two bets that one must make to play this way. In his honest presentation regarding losing at Craps, he presents a clash of traits that many craps advocates must tame –  A competitive personality vs the establishment of a firm “loss limit.” Following his losing session, Coach Fav explains what his major mistake in play was and vows it will not happen again. He hopes, of course.

Finally Coach Fav thought his losses at Craps would be made up by his pick in the Kentucky Derby, EpiCenter. It looked that way until out of nowhere from the back came Rich Strike. Get the details.

Janie opens the podcast today. We stayed at the M Resort in Henderson, Nevada, the official hotel of the Las Vegas Raiders three nights, two nights at the palace size South Point Casino, a very popular locals casino, and the final two nights at Bally’s on the Las Vegas Strip. Today’s podcast focuses on M Resort and Bally’s. Janie reviews several areas of concern and grades M Resort very high with the one exception of the Sports Book. Otherwise, it is perfect.  Food Costs were so reasonable at the M Resort and the pool is HEATED. The hotel coffee in the M Resort  24 hour Bakery/Coffee Shop is the very best coffee she has ever had including Starbucks. So many other important details of our stay at the M Resort are mentioned.

Bally’s is in transition and is behind the 8 ball as their first floor restaurants are gone with the exception of Nosh, which is only open a couple of days a week. 

Craps Talk:

Coach Fav talks about the effect that electronic craps tables and bubble craps machines will have on the regular craps tables.  Jeremy Elerick of Color Up, perhaps the best producer of Craps Videos on YouTube, believes that these types of tables will bring more players to the regular craps tables eventually.  Coach Fav hopes Jeremy is correct, but feels strongly that casinos will ultimately embrace an electronic table which requires just one dealer, which dozens of people can play from their seats surrounding the table or bubble craps machines that do not have any dealers – instead of staffing his beloved regular felt covered table with four dealers a box man, two dealers, and a stick man. Finally Coach presents a Martingale style betting scheme for electronic or bubble craps that offer a very low minimum bet – as low as $1 for line bets.  He has had success with this approach, using Come Bets, but Coach Fav does not guarantee that it will always work…. nothing ever does in a negative expectation game. Still we love CRAPS!

Coach Fav welcomes the season of Spring, which symbolizes many positive things but in the commonplace means the roads to area casinos are free and clear of ice. Immediately the topic turns to what he calls the “Duke Aftermath” and the end of March Madness for both women and men. Spring means travel. Coach and Janie talk about some of the travel mistakes they once made, mistakes listed by Travel and Leisure Writer Alex Schecter in a recent online article on 12 major travel mistakes tourists make coming to and staying in Las Vegas. Janie and Coach give their own tips about how to avoid some of the most common travel mistakes. One of the danger areas is taking videos and photos in casinos without securing permission from security. Don’t risk a casino ban.

 In Craps Talk Coach Fav gives an honest account of  “Table Game Expectation Value,” both Negative and Positive in casino table games, including his favorite game, Craps. So often players refer to themselves as “Advantage Players” without regard to the true meaning of the term. There is no fail safe betting system possible in a negative expectation game so let’s stop pretending that there is. He does show that true and legitimate Advantage Players master lowering the house edge although they cannot gain a true mathematical advantage on the casino itself. Betting systems often raise the house edge while providing more risk and more money if they succeed. They do and do not. That’s the truth of it.

Coach Fav gives his early picks in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. He gives his betting strategy on Gonzaga, the team that he anticipates will be the National Champion. In his presentation, he makes the case for teams that are good bets in the early rounds. His beloved Notre Dame won the preliminary game with a double overtime win against Rutgers making Coach Fav a winner betting on an underdog.

Part 2

In Craps Talk  Coach Fav receives a phone call on a craps betting system from a caller from Georgia who presents his “No Soft 4 Strategy.”  Coach agrees this strategy is a solid one and offers a variety of ways to make betting the “Inside Numbers” or the “Iron Cross” plays profitable with this approach.  Too many craps players just have no idea of how to use lay bets to hedge. This segment might encourage a try at making lay bets. Use creative betting, such as lay bets, to make the game yours.

Janie joins the podcast to discuss the great fun Sports Books offer during March Madness. Drawing from the American Gaming Association data, Janie and Coach Fav present the amazing amount of money (in the Billions) that will be wagered this month on college basketball. Part 1: Players who are very good using the Basic Strategy while playing Blackjack generally face about a 2% house edge. Those players who have mastered Basic Strategy reduce the house edge or advantage to under 1%. From those perspectives it’s difficult to understand how the 400 plus casinos in Nevada earned over 14% of all the money wagered while playing Blackjack in the year 2021. This win percentage is from the factual report of the Nevada Gaming Commission. In this podcast, Coach Fav discusses why this high casino advantage happened to a game, which should have a much lower house edge. In fact, slot machines were easier to beat than Blackjack in Nevada during 2021 as they only kept 9% of the money wagered. So Coach Fav offers an explanation for the high profits for casinos are raking it in from the Blackjack tables.
