3. Short Staffing:

Coach Fav “rants a bit” regarding the miscues on Fremont Street and in nearly all the Casinos on the Strip. Simply put it seems as if “short staffing” is now embraced by casino management as patrons continue to comeback to Las Vegas even though customer service in terms of hotel and casino cleanliness, response time by the front desk, limiting the open days and times of many restaurants, higher table limits and other important services continue to hinder the old Vegas that we loved from coming back. (Other Items) Why can’t Resorts World Get It Right? Why are there still so many 20 somethings drunk and even passed out on Fremont Street ignoring the dangers they put themselves in…..?

Show Overview:  Coach Fav and Janie discuss both the highs and lows of their week in Las Vegas, including moments when they were “chewing out of their cage.”  Many are upset with the changes in Las Vegas since the reopening after the Pandemic Shutdown. Let’s start with restaurant pricing, charging for pool chairs, little free parking, wait time when attempting to call the front desk or any other area of the casino. Yet the magic of Las Vegas remains. At least Casinos USA still finds it. The Fremont Street Death March points to a classic mistake in Vegas; that is, disregard for the outside temperatures. Please consider Casinos USA advice on where to stay for games at Allegiant Stadium. We also recommend a great restaurant (Irish Pub) and a specific hotel tower to request if one enjoys the pools at Luxor, a casino hotel that is  amazing for not skimping on free chairs poolside. Consider the advantages of doing Vegas with great friends. We encourage it.

Coach Fav explains how he won a craps challenge against a working casino dealer at a neutral casino. Get the details on his 15-6 strategy, one that has been good to Coach Fav over the years. Coach Fav is the originator of 3-2-1 Craps, but he used a different strategy to win the competition with the Vegas Casino Dealer.

The sports betting mania is also covered. The “free seats” in Sports Books are gone with few exceptions. Coach Fav also presents his college and NFL picks for Sept. 25 and 26. As usual his picks are for recreational enjoyment and should not be followed by betting real money. Remember that the Raider QB, Derek Carr, is the real deal – one of the most accurate passers in the league.

Finally, Coach Fav and Janie agree with Travel Ruby of YouTube fame and give one MAJOR reason for not staying at Harrah’s despite the great suite that they enjoyed while there.

Part 1  Sports Betting Overview   

Whether it is at a brick and mortar sports book inside of a casino or a legal online betting app, Casinos USA uses spread bets for NFL games and Money Line Odds for College Football Bets. Part I Janie tells of a recent Destination Wedding out of the country where the American wedding guests lost several days trying to get back home amid flight cancellations.

Part II Three Card Poker Basics: The lowest hand you should not fold on is a Queen, six, four. The dealer needs queen high to “qualify” with at least a queen to continue. The Ante Bonus bet pays you if you have a straight or more even if you lose the hand to a dealer. Rookie dealers too often mistakenly do not pay this bet. Correct them. The pair bet raises the house edge, but if you are getting cards, why not? The Long Shot 6 card bet is explained. The house edge in 3 card poker is 2.01% without the side bets, and that’s as good as placing the 6 and 8 in craps. 3 Card Poker is another table game where your moves cannot hurt another player. There is no draw.  Relax and enjoy this interesting game. 

Part III Coach Fav maintains that system rigidity at a craps table can make one a loser. Think about changing your style of play if the table is “killing you>”

Part I

Do Advantage Players exist? Is it something that one can make oneself by study, practice, and imitation? Coach Fav gives his view and does indeed identify those players who have an advantage over the casino. Sounds good but realize that they are banned from playing the game that they have an own an advantage over the house. The best that we can do is to play even with a casino so that they have no advantage over us. Coach Fav explains there is only one way to beat the house, but it’s very hard to do. Learning legitimate strategies will help your game but will not give you an advantage. If you follow our best advice in this segment, you will definitely increase the times that you come home from a casino with winnings. This is not a scam. It’s the honest truth. 

Part II

Mini family Casinos USA reunion worked so well at Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Western Maryland because the weather was perfect for enjoying the outdoor features available at RG: swimming in the lake, kayaks, fishing, evening fire pits, and enjoying the indoor pool with the roof open. Four adults and 3 children – 8, 12, and 13 – we all got into the outdoor activities. Son Geoff lives in Maryland. Daughter Jill lives in Las Vegas. They had not seen each other in person for four years. Kids warmed up to one another very quickly. 

Part III

Odds and Ends: 

(A) South West Airline Issues.  The email we received on July 19 from SW told us our flight to Vegas was changed. Instead of a nonstop 4 hours, 20 minutes, Pittsburgh to Las Vegas, the new flight added two stops and would be 8 hours, 15 minutes. A call to SW led us to a nonstop flight that was leaving the same day but 5 hours earlier. It still had available  seats. We took it. No change in price because SW will move us for free as they made the change. 

(B) Pennsylvania opened up smoking for gamblers. Smoking inside casinos and other public buildings was stopped during the Pandemic. That’s an ouch for me. How about you?

(C) Post Pandemic are things the same as they used to be? Our answer is, “NO.” We are not sure that things will ever return to what they were. Transportation costs around Las Vegas are a nightmare beginning with getting from the airport to your hotel. Also the shortage of workers is forcing changes to the way casinos work. So many things are very shaky. 

(D) We will be in Las Vegas for the Monday Night football game September 13 as the LV Raiders welcome the Baltimore Ravens. There will be four of us on the trip with a fifth person joining us in midweek. Hope we can meet some or our listeners.

In our first segment we react to the national sports media going after Las Vegas Raiders

Coach, John Gruden by calling him, “…the worst coach in the NFL.” We give you our take on the upcoming season and the Raiders’ chances.  In all honesty, they are not so bright. Yet we do believe that Coach Gruden will turn them around. He is in his third year of an amazing 10 year contract. Despite what you might hear, he is not going anywhere.

We recommend the game of Baccarat to all because of its very low house advantage. In fact, to surpass the edge one would have to be a world class Blackjack player. In Baccarat, which is not a game of skill, the edge is available to all who play.  Yet there are two mistakes people can make with Baccarat. We explain in detail.

Janie drops in and discusses two slot machine video-makers on YouTube that she enjoys. Janie was unaware that YouTube was available on our large screen televisions until recently. Now she enjoys these videos quite often. She refuses to watch YouTube on her phone.

Finally, Coach Fav praises the Golden Knights for a great overtime win in Denver.  He also scolds the YouTube producers who simply talk to invisible people supposedly sending them money. Stop It. Focus on your product. Everyone knows that YouTubers support the channels that they enjoy. Stop talking about a $5 kicker to you from someone we cannot see or hear.
